InterGrain Unveils Two New Wheats for 2026: Dale and Murray

InterGrain has announced the release of two new wheat varieties, Dale and Murray, set to make waves in the 2026 growing season across South Australia. These mid-maturing wheats offer impressive yield potential, robust disease resistance, and strong grain quality, making them top contenders for growers seeking performance and reliability.

What is Dale? (trialled as IGW6993):

Dale is a high-yielding AH wheat with excellent yield potential and stability across a range of environments in South Australia. It is a mid-maturing variety, a few days quicker than Scepter, it comes with excellent grain quality including test weight and low screenings across all environments.

In terms of a disease package, early signs are it will be MRMS for yellow leaf spot, MRMS for Stem Rust, MS for Powdery Mildew and MRMS for P. neglectus (CCN).

It was named in honour of grain grower and industry champion Dale Baker, who was the inaugural Chairman of InterGrain in 2007

It looks like it will be going up against the likes of AGT’s Scepter, Calibre and Shotgun.

What is Murray? (trialled as IGW6895):

Their second release, Murray, is a high-yielding APW wheat suited to the medium-high rainfall areas of South Australia, showing excellent yield potential. Again a mid-maturing variety, however this time, slightly slower than Scepter by a few days.

For it disease package, the early data is looking like it will be MR for stripe rust and MRMS for CCN.

Once again a good grain package, including strong test weight and good screenings in medium rainfall environments, plus excellent lodging tolerance.

Yield data shows that it will really start to flex it’s muscles in those 6+ tonne yield environments.
