Buying and Selling InterGrain Clearfield Varieties Just Got Easier

InterGrain has announced an exciting update for growers: all InterGrain Clearfield® wheat and barley varieties can now be legally traded between farmers. This follows a similar move earlier this year by AGT and comes after successful negotiations with BASF.

This change means growers now have greater flexibility when buying and selling Clearfield® seed. However, it’s important to ensure all seed exchanged through farmer-to-farmer trade is clean and maintains varietal purity. It is also a legal requirement for growers to register all farmer-to-farmer seed trades, which can be completed using a Seed Sale Declaration.

What Clearfield® Varieties are Eligible for Farmer-to-Farmer Trade?

Barley:

  • Neo CL
  • Granite CL
  • Maximus CL
  • Commodus CL
  • Spartacus CL
  • Zena CL

Wheat:

  • Dozer CL Plus
  • Valiant CL Plus
  • Chief CL Plus
  • Sheriff CL Plus

It’s important to note that this freedom to trade does not extend to imidazolinone-tolerant oats. Varieties such as Archer and Kingbale cannot be traded between farmers.

All farmer-to-farmer traded varieties remain subject to the terms and conditions of the Industry Standard Seed Licence and Royalty Agreement, ensuring legal compliance and protection for both buyers and sellers
