A flexible alternative for powerful control of challenging weeds.
Galaxy from Nufarm is a new post-emergent herbicide option for broadleaf weeds in cereal crops. Its active is straight Pyrasulfotole – (which you might recognise as one part of Bayer’s Velocity and Precept). It is a Group 27 (H) herbicide with excellent activity on problem weeds, including ones showing resistance to Group 2 (B) and 4 (I) herbicides.
It will fit our programs as a great flexible mix partner to strengthen the performance and reduce resistance building up.
The labelled mix partners are; either Bromoxynil, MCPA LVE 570 or Bromicide MA (a mix of both), however being a standalone active Galaxy gives you the ability to mix with different options depending on your weed pressure, as well as having a rate range to go as low or as high as needed.
Pyrasulfotole is particularly strong on weeds in the brassica family, such as mustards, turnips, radish and canola, but also has weeds such as bedstraw, bifora, capeweed, fumitory, salvation jane, prickly lettuce, sow thistle and wireweed on the label depending on your mix partner. We believe this will make Pyrasulfotole a more economical control tool.
Our trials have shown Galaxy is most effective when applied as a tank mix with LVE MCPA 570 or Bromoxynil. Good coverage is critical to efficacy when using Galaxy herbicide, with crop shading reducing overall control.
Galaxy is available for use in 2023, and we have stock in store, so contact one of our agronomists to see if it fits your farm.
