We’re excited! Intergrain has recently released their new Brumby Wheat.
Tested as IGW6683, Brumby is a high-yielding APW wheat with a very attractive disease resistance profile. It is mid-maturing between Scepter and Rockstar and will be broadly adopted and well-suited to early May sowings. Plant height is medium to tall and is comparable to Rock Star in its good grain size and test weight and has a longer coleoptile. Its tillering capacity means it is expected to provide adequate weed competition.
However, the best part about Brumby is its powdery mildew resistance. In recent seasons, it has shown extremely low powdery mildew infection levels in high-pressure disease screening environments. This will be a significant advantage in areas such as the Yorke Peninsula, where powdery mildew is a challenge. Other provisional ratings are MS stripe rust, MR stripe rust, MRMS yellow leaf spot and MRMS CCN.
We are currently taking forward orders for Brumby for the 2023 season.
