Rebel is Farmalinx’s new 2,4-D formulation with a difference – 440g/L of 2,4-D present as an acid.
Why are we excited? Because it has low odour and low volatility. It is an excellent alternative to other formulations of 2,4-D products (e.g., esters) where a low odour is required, such as near towns. Plus, the low volatility will help minimise the probability of spray drift with the chemical staying in the paddock where it’s needed – keep in mind that you will still need to adhere to APVMA spray regulations.
How does it stack up against the other 2,4-D products?
The weed control efficacy of Rebel is the same as standard ester 2,4-D formulations and superior to Amine. It has an extensive list of weeds controlled, such as fumitory, wireweed, lincoln weed, mustard, skeleton weed, milk thistles, turnup and wild radish.
What about compatibility?
Rebel is highly compatible with most formulations of paraquat, dicamba, atrazine, triasulfuron (Logran), metsulfuron (Ally), triclopyr (Garlon), fluroxypyr (Starane), and glyphosate (including granular, potassium salt & isopropylamine salt formulations).
Where will it fit?
Use patterns extend from summer spraying to broadleaf control in cereals (wheat and barley) from completion of tillering to early jointing and as a harvest aid in cereals after the milky dough stage.
Anything to note?
There is a seven day withholding period that applies to grazing or cutting for feed where Rebel has been applied pastures and cereals. And, in accordance with APVMA regulations, it can only be used with nozzles producing extremely course (XC) or ultra course (UC) droplets from the 1st October through to 15th April.
