S&W Seed Company Kraken Forage Barley is a new early maturing, 2 row, white seeded and awnless barley.

Kraken excels in late sown situations where early vigour and rapid winter growth are vital to fill winter feed deficits.

Kraken is around nine days later than Moby when left to go direct to maturity, however, under repeat grazing conditions it can offer a much longer season of production, provided the Kraken is grazed repeatedly before the development of the first node. Kraken has improved tiller density and grazing recovery to Moby and offers more straw strength and standability later in the season to make it less prone to lodging. Kraken has a slightly finer leaf than Moby, and provides a much-improved level of resistance across most leaf diseases, particularly to Powdery Mildew.
